“you can’t deliver dreams, without dreaming yourself!”

Award-winning designer, with 24 years experience in architecture design & hospitality based in Miami, FL

Art changed my world when I was 8. . . After living 5 years in civil war and communism, we finally got visas to move to the US. Because I didn’t know any English, art was how I expressed myself best at school. Here, my love for sketching and conceptualizing was discovered and nurtured by my art teachers.

Brainstorming, is the most favorite thing I like to do; if its to design a logo, a store, a house, a shoe, a light fixture, a resort, a private island, I don’t care. . . I’m passionate about the process.

When it’s all fragmented pieces and don’t know where its leading, and suddenly voila flashes of visions start hitting me and a movie starts coming together in my mind. . . a storyline begins brewing.

I sit and daydream for hours projecting in my minds eye the experiences I’m creating for my guest. Sometimes, I have very vivid visualizations. . . as if I traveled in time and saw it in the future.

I love first of a kind projects, they are the most thrilling because of the anxiety and creative tension involved to develop something memorable and one of a kind in todays competitive world. This is why, I’m a huge fan of anything fashion, they always have to look forward and produce something on brand yet fresh, and millions of dollars are at risk.

In my career, I’ve been fortunate to have designed many one of a kinds that continue to enjoy great success.

I grew up in a small town in Nicaragua, Granada; a beautiful small Spanish colonial town at the edge of an extensive lake at the feet of a volcano. I did not know it at the time, as a child, but this was my first architecture classroom. . . It taught me about tectonics and details, human scale and proportion, urban planning and community.

I love to dive into the culture and history of a place, connect with the magic of the people and the energy of the land. Really understand how they live and what makes them unique; this is what allows me to start from an authentic place.

It creates the spark that ignites my vision.
