“…each store should look like it’s own independent building…like you see in old ateliers in Europe… not just a storefront, but an entire façade” gio

Challenge:
Design an upscale fashion retail district like non other… flourishing with art, design and luxury for a community to enjoy!
Not to feel like a mall and no air conditioning
Sustainable; LEED

Challenge:
Create a smooth transition from underground parking garage to plaza and bring natural light down into garage.
Find a home for a “sculpture”, a geodesic dome by Buckminster Fuller, and not obstruct visibility into any store from entry to plaza
Solution:
Create something people can inhabit and experience, a grand gesture. . . a sculpture on a plinth that people can sit and people watch; similar to all the wonderful plazas in Europe
The re-envisioning of an engineering masterpiece, a fly-eye dome by Buckminster Fuller, in the heart of a luxury high fashion design district. Art/function/visibility - Whatever you do: “don’t block the stores!”
